About us

A founder-led technology company built to translate strategy into secure, measurable execution.

One accountable partner from strategy to production: architecture, engineering, cloud, DevOps, SRE, security, quality, data, AI, programme delivery, specialist staffing and operational support.

Our story

A message from the directors

NextGen Informatics was created to close the gap between strategy and execution. Organisations are under pressure to modernise legacy platforms, improve reliability, secure their software supply chain, reduce cloud and infrastructure costs, automate manual work, adopt AI responsibly and deliver change at greater velocity. They often need one accountable partner that can connect these disciplines rather than treating them as separate projects.

Our model combines founder-level technical leadership with access to multi-disciplinary specialists across software engineering, DevOps, cloud, SRE, quality engineering, data, security, architecture, programme delivery and operations. We can provide focused advisory work, an individual expert, a complete cross-functional squad, a turnkey project team or an ongoing managed capability.

We are ambitious about growth, employment and the role of African engineering talent in the next generation of technology. At the same time, we remain practical: every engagement must be governed, measurable, secure, cost-aware and designed for sustainable ownership by the client.

Our belief

Technology is valuable only when it advances a real business outcome. We begin with the customer, the operating reality and the value case — not with a favourite tool or a fashionable architecture.

Vision

To become a leading African technology engineering company that helps organisations build, operate and continuously improve intelligent, secure and resilient digital platforms.

To create meaningful employment and grow specialist technology capability while competing through engineering excellence, accountability and innovation.

Mission

To accelerate measurable business outcomes through architecture, automation, reliable operations, high-quality software and responsible AI.

To give clients the right combination of strategy, hands-on engineering and scalable talent for each stage of their journey.

Our values

The NextGen promise

We do not build technology for the sake of building. Every proposed solution must address an agreed need, improve customer or employee experience, reduce cost or risk, strengthen resilience, accelerate delivery or enable a strategic capability.

Outcome first

Begin with the business objective, customer need, constraint and measure of success.

Automate by default

Remove repetitive work, configuration drift and avoidable human error wherever automation is justified.

Secure by design

Treat identity, privacy, threat modelling, data protection and software supply-chain security as design inputs.

Reliability is a product

Define service objectives, observe systems end to end and engineer for graceful recovery.

Practical innovation

Experiment rapidly, but progress to production only when value, safety and operability are clear.

Transparency & ownership

Surface risks early, make decisions traceable and take accountability for agreed outcomes.

Learn & transfer

Build client capability through documentation, pairing, coaching, reusable assets and structured handover.

Inclusive growth

Use commercial growth to expand access to meaningful technology work, mentorship and local supplier participation.

Our approach

How we operate

Business-first

Technology choices are justified by customer value, commercial impact, risk reduction or delivery capacity.

Engineering-led

Senior practitioners remain close to architecture, delivery decisions, quality and operational outcomes.

Modern + legacy

We connect cloud-native, containerised and AI-enabled solutions with mainframe, batch and established enterprise platforms.

Secure + reliable

Security, testing, resilience, observability and governance are built into the lifecycle rather than added at the end.

Flexible scale

Engage an advisor, a specialist, a complete squad, a turnkey project team or a managed service.

Local impact, global practice

Black-owned South African leadership, local skills growth and internationally recognised engineering practices.

Director

MT

Mathews Tjale

Director

The directors combine hands-on engineering depth with architecture, governance and business leadership, with practical exposure across the full lifecycle — from legacy development and infrastructure through to cloud-native platforms, SRE, DevSecOps and AI-assisted engineering. NextGen Informatics can mobilise individual experts or complete squads through a combination of core team members and vetted associates, so delivery scales without disconnecting from senior accountability.

Local transformation

B-BBEE, skills and social value

NextGen Informatics is founder-represented as a black-owned and managed South African enterprise. The company intends to formalise and maintain the appropriate B-BBEE evidence for its turnover and legal structure, while building transformation into how it recruits, develops capability and participates in client ecosystems.

Formal recognition

Maintain a valid affidavit or verification certificate and supporting ownership records appropriate to the company's classification.

Local skills pipeline

Create pathways for graduates, junior engineers and career-transition talent through mentorship, pairing, practical projects and certification support.

Knowledge transfer

Measure documentation, coaching, client-team independence and reduction of key-person dependency in delivery.

Supplier ecosystem

Use credible specialist associates and smaller local suppliers where this improves delivery, access and capability.

Meaningful employment

Scale permanent and project-based roles responsibly as revenue and demand become sustainable.

Inclusive client value

Transformation strengthens the proposition but does not replace the requirement for quality, accountability, security and measurable outcomes.

Where we're headed

2026-2029 growth roadmap

The ambition is to grow from founder-led consulting and squad delivery into a scalable technology engineering business with repeatable managed services, accelerators, responsible AI capability and a strong talent pipeline.

  1. 2026

    Foundation

Formalise governance and commercial readiness; secure anchor projects; launch AI & automation studio; build repeatable delivery playbooks.

  2. 2027

    Scale

Expand specialist squads and managed services; strengthen recruitment and vetting; pursue relevant certifications and partnerships.

  3. 2028

    Productise

Create reusable platform accelerators, test frameworks, observability packs and governed agent templates; deepen industry solutions.

  4. 2029+
